Job summary

King County Water and Land Resources Division -WA is hiring Utility Worker I for the West Point Treatment Plant in Seattle. The role involves preventive maintenance, operating a range of equipment, and supporting operations and custodial tasks.

This full-time position offers a unionized environment with a 40-hour work week and requires working in varied conditions. Ideal candidates bring experience with hand and power tools, cleaning equipment, and the ability to work safely at heights with PPE;

Qualifications

• Experience operating hand and power tools and various equipment.
• Experience with industrial steam cleaners and pressure washers.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 30 feet with PPE.
• Ability to work with a diverse team and follow instructions.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Assist in general preventive maintenance including gardening, cleaning, operating equipment.
• Operate equipment and vehicles such as hand and power tools, landscape equipment, tractors, forklifts, cranes, vacuum trucks, backhoes, portable pumps, dump trucks.
• Perform light maintenance like changing light bulbs, inspecting safety equipment and HVAC systems, fire hydrant inspections, cleaning facility exteriors.
• Act as back-up for gardening, custodial, painting and other support tasks.
• Respond to unusual occurrences and assist in emergencies.
