Job summary

City of Mishawaka is seeking a Pipefitter C to perform installation, maintenance and repair of hydrants, water taps, valves, mains and service lines. The role includes sidewalk and street repairs and requires problem solving in the field under supervision from the Water Division leadership.

Working hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm. Must be able to lift heavy objects, work outdoors in all weather, and obtain a Class A CDL within 90 days of hire. Salary is hourly and benefits may apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess good physical condition and stamina.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to work well with others and follow directions.
• Experience with ductile iron water mains or water systems is preferred (as indicated by job scope).
• Must possess or obtain a valid Class A CDL within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Dig trenches and holes; operate compressor and jack hammer; perform manual labor.
• Install and repair water mains, fittings, hydrants, service lines and valves.
• Repair street and sidewalk cuts with asphalt, concrete and gravel.
• Repair and maintain water distribution system; drive trucks and pull trailers.
