Job summary

Prince William County Service Authority Inc. seeks an experienced Assistant Team Leader to oversee field crews performing water distribution and sewer collection projects. You will lead, train, and guide operations, locate infrastructure, and ensure safety compliance on site.

The role requires CDL with Tanker endorsement, DOT medical card, and strong supervisory skills. On-site work with periodic after-hours calls is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 3+ years in water distribution or sewage systems.
• Valid driver's license; CDL with Tanker endorsement; DOT medical card.
• Must pass air brakes test; forklift certification; VDOT Work Zone certification.
• Ability to supervise and train staff; lead crew in field operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew in maintenance, construction and repair of water and sewer systems.
• Perform sewer work: excavation, repairs, new installations, hydrant maintenance.
• Locate utilities using MISS Utility practices and mark locations.
• Enforce safety SOPs; participate in after-hours emergency repairs.
• Interview and train staff; provide direct oversight and coordinate with GIS/As-builts.
• Operate and maintain equipment (backhoes, loaders, air compressors, chain saws).
• Process Cityworks tickets, plan routes, and communicate with contractors.
• Meet homeowners, verify locations, and supervise utility workers.
