Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a position in Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations to investigate water distribution service requests and update the service request/work order system for accurate and timely closure. You will respond to inquiries from citizens, officials and outside agencies while ensuring safety at job sites.

Responsibilities include reading maps, maintaining records, preparing technical reports, and traveling to multiple job sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and up to 18 months of related training.
• One year of experience in customer service or inspection related to the role.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with City of Houston driving policy.

Responsibilities

• Investigates water distribution service requests and ensures timely closeout of work orders.
• Responds to complaints and inquiries from citizens, City officials or outside agencies, contractors and professionals.
• Maintains detailed records, reports, and documentation for filing systems.
• Reads drawings/maps to verify locations of mains, valves, hydrants, and other utilities.
• Uses tools and devices such as scanners, tablets and manual water pumps as required.
• Drives to and from job sites as needed.
