Job summary

The City of Houston seeks a skilled maintenance worker for the Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations. This on-site role maintains water systems, performs inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on pumps, motors, piping and related equipment across multiple sites.

Candidates should have three years of mechanical maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders and lifting up to 80 pounds.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of building or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Valid Driver License and compliance with City driving policy.
• Experience with mechanical or electronic equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled mechanical duties in the maintenance of water systems and facilities.
• Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, lubrications and repairs on rotating equipment, piping, pumps, motors, blowers, compressors, valves, lines, water systems, facilities, and equipment.
• Maintains and repairs equipment and tools used to perform responsibilities.
• Collects and catalogs data on installed equipment.
• Makes service calls to maintain and repair equipment and install equipment identification tags.
• Reports unsafe conditions and equipment to proper authorities. Keeps records of service calls, maintenance and repair work.
• May be required to drive a City vehicle and maintain vehicle maintenance and mileage records.
