Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a first responder for the Houston Water/Wastewater Operations division. You will investigate, document, and respond to sanitary sewer issues, including overflows, by engaging with the public and technical teams.

You may attend emergencies and work longer shifts, including sleeping on-site during emergencies, and you will drive to job sites as required. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, one year of customer service experience, a valid Texas driver's

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate and up to eighteen months of specialized education or training in a specific area or trade.
One year of experience related to customer service or an area of inspection to be performed is required.
Depending on the area of specialty, the experience may need to be journey level after an apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

First responder who investigates and responds to service requests from citizens, business owners, and manhole monitoring alerts regarding collection system concerns.
Investigates, documents, and responds to sanitary sewer overflows, including photos and emails in the asset management system.
Interacts with the public and technical professionals and may meet with businesses about inquiries/ concerns; may require responding to emergencies and longer shifts, including sleeping in the facility during emergencies.
Drives to and from job sites to ensure safety and security of collection system concerns.
