Job summary

HDR is seeking a Water Business Group Professional Services Director to provide executive leadership for technical quality, project delivery excellence, and professional practice. This role aligns technical groups across a matrix organization and strengthens delivery capabilities and standards to achieve high-quality outcomes.

The position collaborates with operations, market sectors, and technical leaders to advance excellence, develop future leaders, and drive collaboration.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in professional services, program management, or delivery leadership.
• Experience leading technical teams and practices on large-scale programs.
• Strong understanding of QA/QC, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and monitor the development and training of business group staff in technical, professional, business, and service delivery competencies.
• Develop approaches to new technologies, digital delivery methods, and service areas to support initiatives.
• Lead evaluation, implementation, and adoption of professional services technologies and tools to improve quality, efficiency, and risk management.
• Coordinate and monitor staff training in company policies and processes across technical, business, ethical, safety, HR, risk, technology, and quality areas.
• Lead continuous improvement through technical standards, best practices, lessons learned, and delivery-focused processes.
• Support practice groups, project teams, and company initiatives related to productivity, policy alignment, and technology integration.
• Partner with program delivery services including program management, project management, construction management, and owner’s advisor services.
• Lead development of technical and delivery approaches, risk management, and problem-solving for strategic initiatives and complex programs.
• Lead QA/QC activities to ensure delivery requirements are met and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor QC review activities and resolve project issues with qualified reviewers.
• Foster effective use of Professional Associates in delivery, mentoring, and technology adoption.
• Support recruiting, staffing, and development of key staff; balance workloads; engage with associations; and drive service delivery growth.
