City of DeKalb is seeking a Water Service Maintenance worker to perform meter reads, installations and repairs on water mains, hydrants and related facilities. The role includes responding to emergency calls, locates, and weather-related incidents, with duties extending to snow plowing and street work as needed.

The position requires rotation coverage, evenings, weekends and holidays, and residency within required maps. A Class B CDL and operator certification are required or pursued after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Illinois Public Water Supply Operator Certification or willingness to obtain.
• CDL Class B permit within 60 days of hire; tanker endorsement as requested.
• Ability to obtain tanker endorsement as requested.
• Experience with water mains, meters, hydrants and water distribution preferred.

Responsabilités

• Locate and read water meters on assigned routes.
• Install, test, troubleshoot and repair water meters.
• Perform water service connections to mains and valve installations.
• Respond to call outs for locates, repairs and weather-related incidents.
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance activities.
