Job summary

DeKalb County is seeking a skilled maintenance technician for water and wastewater facilities. The role involves repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, fabricating parts, and welding metals.

You will monitor safety and quality, troubleshoot issues, and work under supervision to support plant operations. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of industrial maintenance experience, with a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years of industrial maintenance experience preferred in water/wastewater facilities.
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review designs, specifications, and products; attend pre-construction meetings; recommend changes to mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot problems and perform preventative maintenance and repairs on water/wastewater equipment.
• Fabricate and machine repair parts; weld steel, brass and aluminum; operate lathes and mill/drill presses.
• Locate leaks and detect defects; monitor work practices for quality and safety compliance.
• Input data from SCADA and generate reports as needed.
• Support safety policies and adhere to drug testing requirements.
