Job summary

The City of DeKalb seeks a Public Works Maintenance worker to perform repairs, maintenance, and construction of streets, drainage, signs and public facilities. You will respond to emergency callouts, assist with JULIE locates, water distribution repairs, and facility maintenance as needed.

This full-time role requires a CDL Class B permit (and tanker endorsement when required), forklift certification, and a high school diploma. Residency may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• CDL Class B permit within 60 days of hire; tanker endorsement as required.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
• Experience in street/water/sewer maintenance or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of MS Office; ability to learn public works software.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace, and patch street surfaces; repair drainage structures.
• Operate trucks up to 55,000 GVW and plow/salt equipment.
• Perform minor electrical repairs and install traffic signs.
• Assist with JULIE locates and water distribution repairs.
• Respond to call outs for emergencies and weather-related incidents.
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance activities.
