Job summary

The City of Madison is seeking a Senior Utilities Service Worker to support the Water Distribution & Sewer Collection divisions. The role covers construction, maintenance, and emergency response for water and sewer systems, including meters, hydrants, and service lines.

Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, locating utilities, and restoring streets after work. Qualifications include reading/writing, basic math, and a valid Georgia CDL or ability to obtain one.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and valid CDL or ability to obtain one.
• Experience or training in water/sewer maintenance is advantageous.
• Ability to read plans, follow procedures, and work safely in the field.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain water mains, sewer mains, valves, meters, and related infrastructure.
• Respond to leaks, backups, and emergency calls; operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Locates underground utilities and ensures safety procedures are followed.
• Assist in training and mentoring Utilities Service Workers when needed.
