Job summary

Placements24 in Paarl, Western Cape seeks a Civil Engineer to design and manage water supply, distribution, and sanitation systems for municipal and private clients. The role blends office-based design with site visits, delivering feasible, compliant water infrastructure solutions.

You will conduct feasibility studies, prepare designs and tender documents, supervise contracts, and mentor junior engineers. A Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is preferred, with at least five years in water/wastewater projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng registration preferred (ECSA).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in water and sanitation engineering design and project management.
• Proficiency in Civil Designer, AutoCAD, EPANET or similar hydraulic modelling tools.
• Strong knowledge of South African water and wastewater standards and guidelines.
• Experience with municipal infrastructure projects and contract administration.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to relocate to Paarl, Western Cape and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design water treatment plants, pipelines, reservoirs, and pump stations.
• Develop integrated water and wastewater management plans.
• Conduct hydraulic modelling for water distribution and sewer networks.
• Prepare technical specs, design reports, and tender docs.
• Manage project execution: timelines and budgets; coordinate stakeholders.
• Oversee site investigations and construction supervision for water projects.
• Ensure compliance with bylaws, standards, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
• Support proposal writing and business development.
