Placements24 represents a prominent engineering consultancy in the Free State seeking a Project Engineer for Welkom to lead water and sanitation infrastructure projects.

You will design and coordinate treatment plants, pipelines, and reticulation systems, while mentoring staff and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards across project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in water engineering or related discipline.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in design and project management of water and sanitation infrastructure.
• Experience with municipal water systems, wastewater treatment processes, and hydraulic modeling.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterGEMS.
• Strong understanding of South African water regulations and environmental standards.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical aspects of water and sanitation projects from concept to completion.
• Develop detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for water treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations, and reticulation systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare technical reports and tender documents.
• Oversee construction supervision and ensure compliance with design, quality, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation and standards.
• Review and approve design calculations and construction methods.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians on the project team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during design and construction phases.
• Facilitate project meetings and ensure clear stakeholder communication.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy specializing in water and sanitation projects, is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer for their office in Welkom , Free State. This role focuses on the planning, design, and implementation of critical water infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pipelines, and distribution networks. The successful candidate will manage project lifecycles, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with clients and regulatory authorities. Key Responsibilities

Requirements
