Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with 5–10 years of experience focused on water resource work, including fisheries, hydropower, dams, and flood control.

The role involves designing, analyzing, and delivering civil infrastructure projects from concept through completion. Candidates will use FEA tools such as ABAQUS or ANSYS, apply seismic design methods, and collaborate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as a structural engineer.
• P.E. or P.Eng. licensure a plus.
• Experience with water resource infrastructure projects (dams, hydropower, fish passage).
• Experience with FEA modeling software (ABAQUS, ANSYS/LS-DYNA).
• Proficient knowledge of structural design standards (ASCE7, ACI 318/350, AISC 360/341).
• Willing to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Design Documentation Reports and technical memoranda.
• Evaluate and apply advanced structural design techniques.
• Perform structural computations, hand and software-based.
• Develop project details and drawings by hand or CAD.
• Edit project specifications and assist with the Project Manual.
• Provide field services: submittal review, site inspections, conformity reporting.
• Develop FEA models and present results to clients.
• Manage planning and design for project delivery.
• Collect field data and assist in identifying critical design areas.
• Provide mentorship to engineering staff.
