Job summary

Wood Rodgers, Inc. seeks a Project Engineer for the Flood & Drainage team in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, flood risk reduction, and resilient infrastructure development for public agencies across California.

You will work with senior engineers on stormwater systems, pump stations, floodplain analyses, and CIP planning, using GIS and advanced modeling tools to deliver data-driven solutions and clear client communications.

Qualifications

California PE with a Civil Engineering degree and 5+ years in water resources.
Experienced in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using listed software.
Strong communication, writing skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for storm drain, watershed, floodplain, pump station, and flood control projects.
Build, calibrate, validate, and maintain engineering models using historical rainfall, flow data, and field data.
Perform flood risk analyses and evaluate drainage capacity and infrastructure deficiency.
Develop CIP recommendations and support drainage master plans and FEMA studies.
Manage GIS databases and map products to support studies.
Prepare technical memoranda, reports, exhibits, and client presentations.
Coordinate with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders; support plans, specs, estimates, and docs.
