Job summary

Wood Rodgers is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Flood & Drainage team in California. The role targets engineers with 5–8 years of water resources experience, focusing on hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, flood risk reduction, and resilient infrastructure development.

You will work on public agency projects across California, using advanced modeling, GIS, and data-driven analysis to address complex flooding challenges, coordinating with senior staff and clients.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of water resources engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a California PE license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for storm drain, watershed, floodplain, pump station, and flood control projects.
  • Build, calibrate, validate, and maintain engineering models using historical rainfall, flow monitoring, and field data.
  • Perform flood risk, drainage capacity, and infrastructure deficiency analyses.
  • Evaluate alternatives and develop CIP recommendations.
  • Develop and manage GIS databases and map products to support studies.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, exhibits, and client presentations.
  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders; conduct field investigations.
  • Support plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.
