Job summary

Wood Rodgers is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Flood & Drainage team in Denver, CO. Ideal candidates have 5–8 years of water resources experience and will work on stormwater, flood control facilities, and floodplain studies across Colorado, using advanced modeling tools and GIS to address climate resilience challenges.

The role is full-time, hourly, non-exempt, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and collaborate with senior engineers on public agency projects.

Qualifications

  • Colorado PE (Professional Engineer) with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 5+ years of water resources experience.
  • Proven experience with 1D/2D hydraulic modeling, model calibration, floodplain mapping, FEMA studies, and drainage master planning.
  • Proficiency in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, XP-SWMM, TUFLOW, MIKE) and GIS data management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for storm drainage, watershed, floodplain, pump stations, and flood-control projects.
  • Build, calibrate, validate, and maintain engineering models using historical data and field measurements.
  • Perform flood risk analyses, drainage capacity assessments, and CIP prioritization.
  • Develop GIS databases and map products to support engineering studies.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, exhibits, and client presentations.
