Job summary

Wood Rodgers is seeking a Project Engineer in Oakland, CA to join the Water Resources/Flood & Drainage group. The role targets 5–8 years of water resources experience, focusing on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood risk reduction, and resilient infrastructure development.

You will work on stormwater systems, flood control facilities, and CIP planning for public agencies across California, using GIS and advanced modeling tools to drive data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

  • California PE (Professional Engineer) with Civil Engineering degree and 5+ years in water resources.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using listed software and FEMA studies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for storm drain, watershed, floodplain, pump station, and flood control projects.
  • Build, calibrate, validate, and maintain engineering models using historical rainfall, flow monitoring, and field data.
  • Perform flood risk, drainage capacity, and infrastructure deficiency analyses.
  • Evaluate alternatives and develop CIP recommendations.
  • Develop and manage GIS databases and map products to support engineering studies.
  • Assist with drainage master plans, FEMA flood studies, and climate resilience assessments.
  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders; prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.
