Job summary

Wood Rodgers is seeking a Project Engineer for the Flood & Drainage team in San Diego, CA. 5–8 years of water resources experience and PE license preferred. You will work on modeling, flood risk reduction, and resilient infrastructure across public agencies in California.

Join a team using advanced tools like HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, XP-SWMM, TUFLOW, and MIKE to deliver sophisticated solutions. This role emphasizes collaboration, mentoring, and client coordination.

Qualifications

  • PE required with civil engineering degree and 5 years water resources experience.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using listed software.
  • 2D modeling, floodplain mapping, FEMA studies.
  • ArcGIS Pro and geospatial data management experience.
  • Experience with climate resilience and CIP planning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for storm drain, watershed, floodplain, pump station, and flood control projects.
  • Build, calibrate, validate, and maintain engineering models using historical rainfall, flow monitoring, and field data.
  • Perform flood risk, drainage capacity, and infrastructure deficiency analyses.
  • Develop and evaluate CIP recommendations.
  • Develop and manage GIS databases and map products for studies.
  • Support drainage master plans, FEMA studies, and climate resilience assessments.
  • Assist with pump stations, channels, culverts, and detention basins.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, and client presentations.
  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Support plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.
