Job summary

DOWL in Anchorage is seeking a motivated Water Resources Intern to assist on a range of civil engineering projects and gain real-world experience in water resources. You will use GIS applications to examine watershed characteristics, prepare map exhibits, and perform hydrologic analyses using HY-8, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS under supervision.

The internship offers one-on-one mentorship and collaboration with geotechnical, transportation, and structural teams, plus fieldwork and construction support

Qualifications

• One to two years of college-level coursework toward a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, preferably with a focus on water.
• Valid driver’s license is required to support legitimate business purposes.
• ARC GIS & AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge and experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, cost estimating, technical report writing, final design, and construction inspection.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using computer applications such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and HY-8.
• Other engineering related duties as assigned.
