Job summary

DOWL is seeking a Water and Wastewater Intern for Summer 2027 in Elko, NV. You will gain hands-on experience on water resources projects and receive one-on-one mentorship from engineers.

You will assist with field investigations, data collection, and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses using HY-8, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS, and help prepare plans and construction support. Qualifications include 1–2 years of college coursework in civil engineering with a focus on water, plus basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• One to two years of college-level coursework in civil engineering, preferably with a focus on water.
• Knowledge of field and office tasks in civil engineering.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, technical report writing, project design, and construction inspection.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications to estimate construction costs.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using computer applications such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and HY-8.
• Other engineering related duties as assigned.
