Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC is seeking a Water Resources Engineer in Port Charlotte, FL to lead and contribute to water resources projects from planning through construction. You will develop hydraulic and hydrologic models, prepare design concepts, and coordinate with clients, regulators, and team members to deliver compliant solutions.

The role requires a civil/environmental engineering background, 5+ years in stormwater or groundwater, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field from four-year college or university.
• 5+ years of experience in stormwater and/or groundwater.
• PE License Desired or close to obtaining.
• Licensed Professional Engineer for State of Florida Desired.
• Strong written and verbal skills required.
• Construction experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to effectively present information to governmental boards, public groups and/or boards of directors.
• Experienced with software such as stormwater routing modeling, ArcGIS, AutoCAD (Civil3D) is preferred.
• Working knowledge of regulatory agencies such as FDEP, SFWMD, USACE, FDOT.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a variety of water resources engineering projects at the proposal, planning and execution stages.
• Lead and be responsible for construction design drawings for water control structures and flood mitigation projects.
• Understand stormwater analysis and design, prepare stormwater management plans and modeling analyses.
• Technical review and sealing of engineering design drawings, where applicable.
• Hands-on experience with stormwater management modeling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormWise/ICPR4).
• Oversee pre-, during-, and post-construction implementation and field coordination.
• Provide peer review of reports and designs by internal staff.
• Liaise with clients, agencies, and others to determine project requirements and approvals.
• Project management including scheduling and financial management.
• Supervise CAD designers and coordination with departments and agencies.
• Supervise permit technicians and administration for permit applications.
