Job summary

Charleston Water System seeks a Meter Technician to set, read, evaluate, turn on and shut off water meters, with occasional minor repairs. This role requires attention to safety procedures and accurate record-keeping of meter data.

The position supports field operations, responds to on-call rotations, and ensures meters, boxes, mains and hydrants are functioning. Applicants must have two years in a utility environment and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in construction, pipefitting, meter reading manufacturing, or utility environment.
• Must have good knowledge of our service area.
• Some knowledge of pipefitting and/or pump skills.

Responsibilities

• Setting, removing, turning on and shutting off water meters.
• Repairs of water meters and meter boxes; assist with field test meters 3” to 10” and bench test meters up to 2”.
