Job summary

Berkeley County Government in South Carolina is seeking a utility worker to perform semi-skilled duties in installing and repairing pipes, meters and hydrants within the water distribution system, including some work in confined spaces. You will read meters, use hand tools, operate basic equipment and respond to customer inquiries professionally.

The job requires a valid SC driver’s license, and you must be able to obtain a Class A CDL within nine months and a Class D Water Distribution License

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months maintenance/construction experience preferred.
• Valid SC driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in installing and repairing pipes, meters, hydrants and fittings.
• Operates basic tools and equipment; reads and replaces water meters.
• Responds to customer inquiries and handles complaints professionally.
• Performs routine maintenance and supports emergency repairs.
