Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices; safe work practices and safe driving practices; and general operational characteristics of water meters.
• Skill in learning to read all styles of water meters; preparing simple records; reading and interpreting street maps.

Responsibilities

• Read and record residential and commercial water meter readings throughout the County; use a hand-held computer to log usage.
• Locate meters and remove covers as needed; turn water service on and off as assigned.
• Perform minor meter maintenance and repairs; observe for leaks or unsafe conditions; report to supervisor.
• Provide courteous customer service in the field and inform customers of service changes or usage; follow district regulations.
