Job summary

Augusta-Richmond County is seeking a Water Meter Maintenance Worker to install, repair, and replace residential and commercial meters. You will program meters, test for accuracy, and maintain records of readings and equipment usage.

The role requires evening, weekend, and overtime hours, plus ability to work in all weather conditions. Applicant should have basic mechanical skills, a High School diploma or GED, and at least one year of related maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of equipment maintenance or related field experience.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to Augusta, Georgia fleet policies.
• Proficient with standard tools and equipment for meter installation and repair.
• Must be able to perform on-call duties after ~6 months.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs or replaces water meters, water cut off valves, meters boxes and lids.
• Programs meters, tests water flow and pressure to ensure accuracy.
• Maintains records of meter readings, numbers, and related activities.
• Operates a variety of tools and equipment; uses a computer to enter data and review information.
• Performs on-call duty and works in all weather conditions as required.
