Job summary

BERKELEY COUNTY GOVERNMENT in Moncks Corner, SC is seeking an industrial maintenance worker to assist in the installation and repair of water pipes, meters, hydrants and fittings, including confined spaces as needed.

The role uses hand tools, operates pumps and small to heavy equipment, performs flow tests, reads meters, responds to customer inquiries, and participates in on-call emergencies with safety considerations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) months of experience in general maintenance and construction in a utility environment preferred.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for South Carolina with safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assists in making taps and repairs to mains, valves, meters and hydrants.
• Installs water meters and service piping for the water distribution system.
• Reads and replaces water meters; handles materials and debris at the work site.
• Operates hand tools and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
• Responds to customer inquiries and investigates complaints related to the distribution system.
• Performs valve and hydrant maintenance, flow tests and data recording.
• Must be able to obtain CDLs/licenses within specified timelines and work on-call.
