Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a Meter Service Technician to perform meter readings, installations, and repairs across residential and commercial properties. You will operate reading devices, troubleshoot issues, and respond to service requests with professionalism.

Responsibilities include maintaining meter-related inventory, posting notices, and assisting in emergency repairs as needed. A high school diploma and one year of water meter experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in water meter operations.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Must obtain TCEQ C Distribution or C Ground Water within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Read and record water meter consumption with reading devices and troubleshoot issues.
• Install, repair and inspect water meters, meter pits, and reading equipment.
• Respond to customer service requests (connections, disconnects, rereads, leaks) and assist with emergency repairs.
• Maintain meter-related inventory and post notices regarding billing and customer information.
