Job summary

City of Midland, Texas is seeking a Maintenance Technician I for the Meter Division to install, repair, and maintain water meters citywide. You will troubleshoot meter failures, read usage data, and manage inventory while using MCare for work orders.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general water meter maintenance and related repair techniques.
• Ability to read meter data, operate maintenance tools, and document work orders.
• Comfort working outdoors and handling light to moderate physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and reports meter failures.
• Operates meter testing bench and field testing equipment; generates reports.
• Maintains storehouse with inventory control and loss prevention.
• Processes work orders using MCare software; installs, repairs, and connects water meters.
• Organizes tools and supplies; inspects equipment for safe operation.
• Performs routine site inspections to identify repairs or hazards.
• Performs landscaping maintenance and keeps work areas clean.
• Completes crew leader duties as needed; provides backup and supports other departments.
