Job summary

City of Midland is seeking a Maintenance Technician I for its Meter Division. You will install, repair, and maintain water meters city-wide, troubleshoot meter issues, read usage data, and process work orders using MCare software. Outdoor, hands-on work with occasional on-call responsibilities is expected.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of water meter experience, a Class D Water Certification, and a Texas driver's license. Pre-employment screenings are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and two years water meter reading, maintenance, installation or repair experience.
• Must possess Class D Water Certification.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background MVR and physical agility test.
• Must possess valid State of Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain water meters across the city.
• Troubleshoot meter failures and read water usage.
• Operate MCare software to process work orders and documentation.
• Maintain inventory and assist other departments as needed.
• Provide on-call support and backup coverage as required.
• Assist with crew leader duties during busy periods or emergencies.
