Job summary

The City of Chicopee is seeking a Meter Repairman/Foreman to maintain and repair water meters and related equipment within the Water Division. The role involves installation, testing, and programming of meters, including AMI components, and coordinating with contractors.

Requires MA CDL and Water Distribution licenses (Grade 2 and 3). The position is full-time, with varied shifts and potential emergency standby duties beyond regular hours.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Class B CDL license required.
• Massachusetts Water Distribution Grade 2 license required.
• Massachusetts Water Distribution Grade 3 license required (must obtain 6 months after hire).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-the-job training to water meter repairmen.
• Trains staff how to install and program water meters including AMI procedures.
• Plans and schedules daily work activities for personnel.
• Repairs and/or replaces meters and valves.
• Coordinates with contractors for meter installation.
• Keeps daily records of meter locations, sizes, and serial numbers.
• Investigates water leaks and quality complaints.
• Available for emergency work and snow removal operations.
