Job summary

American Water seeks a Lead, Project Delivery Engineer to oversee capital projects across water and wastewater systems. You will manage external consultants, review designs, develop bid packages, and supervise construction activities to ensure on-time, on-scope, and on-budget delivery.

This role requires strong technical leadership and collaboration with Operations and regulatory bodies. The position emphasizes regulatory compliance, project controls, and stakeholder coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and PE licensure required or strong entry path.
• Advanced degree preferred for senior leadership in project delivery.
• Experience with water/wastewater project delivery and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple water and wastewater projects from inception to completion.
• Oversee consulting firms, design reviews, and bid packages.
• Coordinate construction activities and project delivery within CIM system.
• Ensure asset owner satisfaction and operational alignment with projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies for permits and approvals.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory criteria and project standards.

Education
