Job summary

American Water Co. seeks a Lead, Project Delivery Engineer to oversee multiple water and wastewater capital projects, from inception to completion, coordinating engineers, contractors, and CAD operators. You will manage design packages, bids, and construction activities, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget compliance across programs.

The role requires a PE license, a bachelor’s in engineering, and 8+ years in project delivery or design, with up to 20% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in engineering design, planning, construction, project delivery and/or project management.
• Wastewater system design experience is a plus.
• PE license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple water and wastewater projects from inception to completion, on time, within scope and budget.
• Monitor delivery metrics and pursue more effective delivery and procurement approaches.
• Deliver capital projects/programs per CIM system to meet asset needs.
• Ensure asset owner satisfaction; coordinate with operations on project impacts.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for land acquisitions, permits, and approvals.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory criteria, specifications and standards.
