Job summary

The City of Aurora Water Division is seeking a Water Flow Control Technician I to monitor and dispatch for Aurora’s water system, including monitoring SCADA, coordinating with field crews, and processing calls from residents and city divisions. The role requires strong communication, rapid decision-making, and a focus on public health.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred 6 months experience in water distribution/wastewater or dispatch.
• Colorado Class 1 Water Distribution Operator Certificate within 6 months.
• Colorado Class 1 Wastewater Collection Operator Certificate within 6 months.
• Colorado Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Ability to obtain Class 2 Water Distribution Operator Certificate and Class D Wastewater Treatment Operator within 2.5 years.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes emergency, non-emergency, and administrative calls from citizens and city divisions.
• Performs after-hours emergency dispatch and maintains field personnel status.
• Monitors SCADA and multi-line phone system during operations.
• Coordinates with field personnel during emergencies and transfers calls within City services.
• Assists in preparation of required reports and daily logs.
• Maintains knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
