Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking a Water Utility Inspection Technician to assist in inspecting construction-related services for water projects. You will help ensure compliance with plans, specs, and City codes, and support wet utilities and life safety systems oversight.

Typical schedule is Mon-Fri 7:30am-4pm with possible extra hours. Some weekend/holiday on-call may apply. Must have a high school diploma; an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in utility construction inspection is preferred.
• Public jurisdiction or consulting firm background preferred.
• Knowledge of construction principles for utility projects.

Responsibilities

• Watch & Protect program to prevent unauthorized work on the raw water system.
• Observe water construction projects and escalate issues to supervisor.
• Complete standard inspections of water and sanitary services; document discrepancies.
• Communicate water issues with other city departments.
• Maintain accurate construction files and records.
• Conduct walk-throughs with contractors and inspect sites; elevate issues.
