Job summary

The City of Marysville seeks a supervisor to plan, organize and supervise the Water Utility Division’s operations and maintenance, coordinating with other Public Works divisions and reporting to the Utilities Superintendent. The role requires a high level of professional knowledge in water distribution, emergency response, budgeting, grant administration, staff supervision, and compliance with codes.

The incumbent will lead daily operations, mentor staff, and may serve as the certified operator

Qualifications

• Three years of increasingly responsible experience in water distribution construction, maintenance and operations, including SCADA/Telemetry.
• Two years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops, plans, and coordinates programs, projects and activities related to water distribution operation and maintenance.
• Supplies training, reviews work processes, counsels employees, and handles evaluations.
• Assists with budget preparation and forecasting staffing, equipment, and supply needs.
• Coordinates division activities with other departments and outside agencies; prepares reports and grant applications.
• Prepares and maintains reports, records, maps and files related to maintenance and inspection activities.
• Oversees routine and emergency maintenance and operations activities.
• Reviews design plans for compliance with codes and regulations.
• Develops short- and long-range plans; implements new policies and procedures.
• Coordinates project bidding and procurement within the division.
• Fosters cooperative relationships with other departments and external agencies.
• May serve as the city’s certified operator in responsible charge for the water distribution system (WDM4).
