City of Columbia, SC is seeking a senior supervisor to coordinate and supervise the Water System Improvement Division, overseeing construction, maintenance and repair of the city’s water distribution system and related customer service operations.

The role emphasizes planning, budgeting, staff supervision, equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with policies, safety standards and regulations while delivering reliable water services to the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ten years of relevant experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.
• South Carolina Water Distribution Operator Class “A” preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Water Maintenance Superintendent with daily management by planning, coordinating and supervising assigned functions.
• Supervises subordinate staff, including scheduling, instruction, assignment, review and discipline as needed.
• Reviews subordinates' work for completeness and accuracy and provides training or guidance as needed.
• Assists in preparing and administering the division budget and requisitions for equipment, tools, and materials.
• Oversees maintenance and repair of water mains, service lines, hydrants and valves.
• Oversees customer service activities including meter reading, data management and billing procedures.
