Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Wastewater Supervisor to lead water and wastewater treatment, bi-products handling, and storm water prevention. You will supervise operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive cost-efficient standards. The role requires hands-on supervision, reporting, and collaboration with City/Regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Post–secondary education with courses in water/wastewater, biology, chemistry, or related subject material and one to three years of experience in water and wastewater systems.
• Possess, or willing to obtain within one year, a pre-treatment wastewater operator’s license.
• Fork-lift trainer certification or willing to obtain within one year.
• Experience driving a tractor/trailer; willing to obtain a CDL within 6 months of employment.
• Poultry processing experience preferred.
• Considerable skill in communicating and working effectively with team members and management.
• Good organizational and prioritization skills required.
• Computer experience in Microsoft programs required.
• Considerable skills and experience in leading and developing people.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the water treatment, wastewater treatment, and offal and feather screen area.
• Supervise operators within the department including training, developing and motivating them to achieve their maximum quality and productivity performance.
• Manage daily sampling protocol on Phosphorus, TSS, BOD, and FOG to satisfy regulatory reporting compliance.
• Compile water, wastewater, and storm water prevention reports, inspections and records, including Tier 2 reporting requirements, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), boiler, air permits, wastewater reporting storm water permit, etc.
• Act as a liaison with City of Arcadia’s Water/Wastewater Department and City Utility Commission and provide monthly DMR report.
• Complete Discharge Monitoring Report for the city monthly.
• Develop and implement goals and objectives, and departmental budget; monitor and explain variances.
• Research and develop cost efficient standards for the department.
• Maintain equipment within water and wastewater department; direct maintenance and sanitation.
• Oversee scheduling, moving, and loading of bi-product trailers.
• Monitor water usage and waste, optimize sampling protocols and water reuse efforts.
• Certify forklift operators.
• Assist other departments in water reuse, quality, and continuous improvement projects.
• Work with other departments and assist in Environmental Audits and Operational Excellence Program.
