Job summary

Pilgrim’s in Cordele, GA is seeking a Wastewater Supervisor to oversee water and wastewater treatment, by-products shipment, and stormwater prevention, while developing cost‑efficient standards for the department.

You will supervise operators, manage sampling protocols and regulatory reporting, and coordinate with city and agency partners. Leadership, CDL readiness, and forklift certification are valued to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in water/wastewater, biology, chemistry, or related; 1–3 years in water/wastewater systems, or >3 years if no post-secondary.
• Possess, or obtain within one year, a pre-treatment wastewater operator’s license.
• Fork-lift trainer certification or willing to obtain within one year.
• Poultry processing experience preferred.
• Experience driving a tractor/trailer; willing to obtain CDL within 6 months.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with management and peers.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Computer experience in Microsoft programs.
• Leadership and development of people.

Responsibilities

• Supervise water treatment, wastewater treatment, and offal and feather screen area.
• Train, develop and motivate operators to achieve quality and productivity.
• Manage daily sampling for Phosphorus, TSS, BOD, and FOG for regulatory reporting.
• Compile and file water, wastewater, and stormwater reports for agencies including EPA/DNR.
• Coordinate with City of Arcadia’s Water/Wastewater Department and City Utility Commission.
• Complete monthly Discharge Monitoring Report for the city.
• Develop department goals and budget; monitor variances.
• Lead cost-efficient standards research for the department.
• Maintain department equipment; oversee maintenance and sanitation.
• Oversee scheduling, movement, and loading of bi-product trailers.
• Monitor water usage and waste; optimize sampling and reuse efforts.
• Certify forklift operators.
• Assist other departments with water reuse, quality, and continuous improvement projects.
• Support Environmental Audits and Operational Excellence programs.
