Job summary

Water Otter Job Board is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment facility under supervision. Requires a Class C Subclass 1 Wastewater Operator Certification (PA) and a high school diploma or GED with wastewater coursework, plus a valid driver’s license and forklift certification.

Responsibilities include sample preparation, routine testing, equipment adjustments, record-keeping, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and the NPDES

Qualifications

Knowledge of wastewater theory and operations including activated sludge, clarification, disinfection, dissolved air flotation and anaerobic processing.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance on pumps, centrifuges, gearboxes.
Knowledge of mechanical theory of operation and maintenance of related equipment.
Knowledge of modern wastewater treatment instrumentation.
Knowledge of handling chemicals used in treatment.
Ability to operate hand tools, machinery, vehicles and equipment.
Valid state driver's license and forklift operator's license.
Minimum Class C Subclass 1 Wastewater Operator Certification (PA).
High school diploma or GED with wastewater coursework.

Responsibilities

Operates the WWTP under direction of Supervisor/Lead Operator and follows SOPs and NPDES permit.
Prepares effluent samples for outside laboratory and conducts plant tests.
Maintains records and daily logs, reports unsafe conditions.
Performs plant rounds, cleans equipment, and ensures proper operation of pumps.
Maintains clean work areas and complies with safety regulations.
