Job summary

City of Riverside is seeking Wastewater Collection System Technician I/II to support the Wastewater Collection Division of the Public Works Department. The roles involve preventive maintenance, sewer cleaning, and repair tasks across the city’s sewer network, with progression from I to II based on experience and certifications.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or GED (or equivalent).
• One year of experience in customer service, general construction, collections, or related field for Technician I.
• Licenses and certifications: Grade I CWEA within 12 months; Class C license and Class B license within 6 months (Class A for some positions).
• Technician II requires Grade II CWEA and Class B license (and sometimes Class A).

Responsibilities

• Operate and use equipment for preventive maintenance and cleaning of sanitary sewers and storm drains.
• Locate, excavate, maintain and repair sewer lines; identify problems.
• Build and repair manholes; raise and lower manholes.
• Lead a two-person crew in minor sewer maintenance and repair operations (Technician II).
• Maintain records of work performed and use electronic devices for reporting.
