Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation is hiring a Wastewater Collection Maintenance Worker II to join the Public Utilities team in Salt Lake City. The role involves assisting with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of wastewater collection lines and pumping facilities using specialized equipment, with pathways to lead duties in absence of the lead worker.

Eligible candidates will perform manual labor in potentially hazardous environments, operate heavy equipment, and contribute to safety and records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; one year paid work in general maintenance or heavy labor (Trainee)
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor and lifting under extreme conditions
• Ability to fit through street openings (manholes)
• Possession of a valid driver’s license or driving privilege card

Responsibilities

• Maintains and cleans sewer lines with hand/power tools and high pressure equipment
• Inspects sewer lines with television equipment and sound equipment
• Operates and assists in sealing equipment and concrete work for manholes
• Trains new employees and rotates to different crews as needed
• Performs duties of a lead worker in absence and ensures safety compliance
