Job summary

City of Mount Vernon is seeking a Wastewater Utility Operator to operate and maintain the WWTP, pump stations, and CSO interceptor in compliance with regulatory requirements. The role includes responsibilities for laboratory testing, process adjustments, and night/weekend shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year of wastewater operations experience.
• Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Group I Certification.
• Group II Certification for Operator II; Group III Certification for Operator III.

Responsibilities

• Complete weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual maintenance on pump stations and facilities; perform routine cleaning of treatment units.
• Operate plant processes including bar screens, perforated screens, clarifiers, high speed blowers, UV disinfection, DAFT and screw press.
• Test, inspect, repair, and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems.
• Collect samples for laboratory analysis; program and calibrate samplers; evaluate results to adjust processes.
• Maintain detailed operational and maintenance records.
• May work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
