Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a WWTF Operator to operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment processes and equipment to ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The role includes sampling, testing, data recording, and responding to alarms and emergencies.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, plus experience in wastewater or related fields and familiarity with SCADA/CMMS systems. On-site work with safety procedures and certifications expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in wastewater treatment, water treatment, industrial utilities, manufacturing, or mechanical operations.
• Experience with SCADA systems, CMMS, or industrial control systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems, including pumps, valves, screens, grit removal equipment, clarifiers, aeration systems, disinfection systems, sludge processing equipment, and related controls.
• Inspect equipment and treatment processes to identify abnormal conditions, leaks, blockages, odors, or mechanical issues.
• Collect wastewater, process, and effluent samples according to established procedures.
• Perform routine laboratory tests (pH, DO, chlorine residual, turbidity, settleability) and process-control analyses.
• Record operating data, meter readings, laboratory results, maintenance activities, chemical usage, and process adjustments.
• Respond to alarms, spills, equipment failures, and other operating emergencies.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow safety procedures and PPE requirements.
