Job summary

The City of Columbia SC seeks a skilled operator for its Metro Septage Receiving Station to perform daily technical and manual tasks, maintain records, and follow SOPs under supervision. The role involves physical work with potential exposure to industrial environments and heavy equipment.

The incumbent will calibrate pH meters, collect samples for lab analysis, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with City policies and DHEC regulations.

Qualifications

• Requires High school diploma or GED and 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) preferred.
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver’s License required.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Metro Septage Receiving Station per SOP.
• Inspect equipment and delivery processes for efficiency and cleanliness.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Calibrate the pH meter daily and monitor pH levels per SOP.
• Collect septage samples for laboratory analysis per 40 CFR 136.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
