Job summary

The City of Mount Vernon seeks a Wastewater Utility Operator to run the WWTP, pump stations, and CSO interceptor in compliance with regulations. You may lead plant operations on weekends/holidays and assist in lab tests to guide process changes.

Essential duties include maintenance, testing, SCADA analysis, and record-keeping; candidates should have a high school diploma/GED and at least one year in wastewater ops with required certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus wastewater plant ops experience.
• Group I Certification required; higher levels preferred or attainable.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain WWTP, pump stations and CSO interceptor.
• Perform laboratory tests and analyze results for process changes.
• Inspect, calibrate, and repair equipment; maintain records.
• Work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
