Job summary

The City of Cape Girardeau is seeking a maintenance technician to inspect, repair, and maintain wastewater treatment plant and lift station equipment. The role involves troubleshooting electrical/mechanical systems, operating and programming SCADA, and performing biosolids handling in compliance with EPA regulations.

Responsibilities include relaying between manuals and field work, reading schematics, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; three years related experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant and lift station equipment and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and installation/repair instructions.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment; rebuild gearboxes and electrical motors at the wastewater facility and lift stations.
• Read and interpret manuals, diagrams and schematics to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain and repair lift stations; clean rag screening equipment and back-flush pumps.
• Monitor and assist in programming SCADA systems and PLCs; program wireless modems.
• Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using meters; install new electrical services.
• Paint equipment and buildings; perform preventative maintenance.
• Perform biosolids testing and ensure EPA 503 compliance; transport biosolids.
• Respond to emergency call-outs; work non-standard hours as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
