Job summary

City of Kinston seeks a skilled technician to maintain and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment used in the wastewater collection system and lift stations. The role involves troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and ensuring reliable operation of pumps, valves, and control systems.

Work includes inspecting infrastructure, reading blueprints and logs, and responding to emergencies such as blockages or equipment failures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, plumbing, and hydraulic components.
• Knowledge of safety precautions for hazardous atmospheres, confined spaces, and lockout/tagout.
• Ability to read manuals, flow charts, blueprints, and daily logs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural components of wastewater lift stations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, and controls.
• Monitor systems using SCADA and gauges; diagnose faults and replace worn parts.
