Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a Full-time Wastewater Collection Technician to inspect and troubleshoot lift stations, perform minor repairs on pumps, and service electrical panels. This role includes operating heavy machinery, maintaining safety practices, and coordinating with the supervisor on larger projects.

The position requires basic knowledge of electrical pumps, reading manuals, and a GED or high school diploma, with a WWC Grade 1-C certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED (or demonstrated proficiency).
• 6 months of basic knowledge in troubleshooting electrical pumps and control panels.
• WWC Grade 1-C certification encouraged.
• Knowledge of lift stations, pumps, valves, and construction operations.
• Ability to read operator manuals, directives, gauges, and indicators.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and equipment for proper operating condition and safety.
• Perform lubrication of equipment using a grease gun.
• Check fluid levels and add fluids as needed.
• Perform minor repairs and services on equipment and replace lights, bulbs, and fuses.
• Operate tractors and other machinery to maintain lift station grounds.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manuals to guide repairs.
