Job summary

The City of Joplin, MO seeks a Maintenance Technician to support the wastewater facilities and lift stations. Under general supervision, you will handle grounds, equipment, custodial tasks, and plant upkeep.

Your duties include assisting with repairs, painting, plumbing and electrical work, operating maintenance equipment, and stepping in as backup Wastewater Plant Operator when needed. A strict pre-employment background check, physical exam, and drug test apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations for wastewater discharge.
• Ability to perform building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
• Experience with carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical repairs.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• Missouri wastewater operator certification within one year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Technician in maintenance and repairs of wastewater facilities and lift stations.
• Paint interiors and exteriors; perform plumbing and electrical tasks; complete carpentry assignments.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of plant facilities.
• Operate equipment used in day-to-day maintenance and operations.
• Serve as backup Wastewater Plant Operator when required.
• Communicate effectively with staff and maintain satisfactory attendance.
